What Customers Say About Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08:

Right.Well, kinda, followed by a "No."The mechanics are a little wonky, but learnable. And yet, for some reason, someone thought it would be a good idea for career mode to be lashed to a "pay to play" anchor. After I got a DS (to help me through my overnight doorman shifts), I figured that a Tiger Woods game, even one stripped of many of the console versions' features, would still be a pretty good time. Look. After you lose that one, you're done. It would have been great to have set up a career, buffed my stats, and gotten to that point in every other TW game when my character is so overstuffed with attributes, my caddy could have played and won.

I would attribute this to the game's interpretation of movement coming from the touchscreen during putting. But even so, all this isn't horrible.

Once you get used to the nuances of the touchscreen controls, they are pretty cool, and add a level of immersion in what could have been just another golf game.

You have to pay 1/2 of that to enter your first round.

I've been a fan of the TW golf games for a while now.

You start a career with $50,000.

Putting seemed a bit underpowered, though.

I couldn't sink a putt in less than two.

You will not win that round, and will be left with a little more than you will need to enter the next round.

No more career mode, ostensibly the whole reason I picked up this game in the first place.Surely, there is a better golf game for the DS.

It's. I haven't found any problems with it and the controls work pretty good. it's not awesome but its not bad either, its a couple of steps above ok. I haven't found an awesome golf game on the DS and this is kind of what you have to settle for. My big complaint would be with the putting, you will be missing a lot of them because it just isn't that accurate, but it's not so bad that you can't play the game. Again, just OK.

The touch screen mode, allows the most flexibility and once you learn how to gauge your distances, is the most versatile with regards to tee shots, approaches and putting. With regards to game play, you can select a single match or start in career mode competing with the PGA's best golfers. You can play in multiplayer or single player mode. Sound is a bit of a disappointment and I have heard the sound of a metal wood, at times, with a 7 irons which is comical.

Mini games are challenging but keep a player's interest. This is the best golf game for the Nintendo DS platform. I use the concurrent radar to determine ball placement for the ball to land and use a full strength swing.GRAPHICS AND SOUNDGraphics are decent for a handheld but the detail is rudimentary. You can customize your own player however, the detail is too small to really notice a difference in the face; the body is customized as small, medium or large. There are noticeable subtlies when using different golfers, especially your own with attributes of 1/25 for everything.GAMEPLAYThere are three methods of play: 3 tap, 2 tap and touch screen mode.

However, the golf courses are recognizable, including the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass or the 18th hole at Pebble Beach. You can change the color of clothing.WHO IS THIS FOR.Any golf enthusiastPlayers of any age, given the different methods of controlPROSTouch screen controlDetail/mini gamesCONSSoundRudimentary graphicsLearning curve for controlOverall, this is a solid game for the DS system. You can practice your skills or take the Tiger Woods challenge. One gripe I have is that there is no way to push a button to speed up play - you have to watch the ball's trajectory. The 2 tap method is the easiest and gives you no directional control, just distance.

The 3 tap mode allows for distance and directional control but has a learning curve to become good at it. The caddie is quite accurate with regards to calculating how you should put, but the interface is still imprecise. There are variety of PGA and LPGA to include Tiger, Retief Goosen, VJ Singh, Annika, Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer, Jim Furyk, just to name a few. I look forward to seeing an update on this game.

It is a lot of fun even though it is for the Nintendo DS. I have been playing it in Iraq quite a bit.

Bought the ds version accidentally, was looking for wii. Ended up buying that elsewhere and love the game overall, except for the putting and the tutoring.
